Dunedin

Updated: Jun 17

With a fascinating cultural history, Dunedin is known as the Edinburgh of New Zealand, proclaiming its Scottish heritage with pride. It is one of the best-preserved Victorian and Edwardian cities in the Southern Hemisphere, with the old buildings now housing an eclectic mix of great cafes, nightspots & restaurants amongst the residential & business premises. It is also home to NZ's only castle! Larnach Castle offers luxury accommodation & unique dining & the Gardens have been rated as a garden of international significance by NZ Garden Trust. Dunedin is home to the University of Otago, NZ's oldest university (established 1869) and today around 20% of the population are in tertiary study. This makes Dunedin a very lively, interesting city. Hiking and cycle trails crisscross the dramatic landscape of the adjoining Otago Peninsula, home to colonies of albatross, sea lions and rare yellow-eyed penguins. The beach with mysterious Moeraki Boulders is 1 hour drive from the city. Dunedin is full of hidden gems, so why don't you JustGoThere!
