Tamborine Mountain is a 28 square kilometer plateau located a 40-minute drive from the Gold Coast. The mountain's name was given by the Aboriginal people and has no connection to the musical instrument.
The mountain is part of the Tamborine Mountain National Park. The area attracts tourists with a variety of wine tours, as well as the opportunity to visit local cheesemakers, bakeries, and breweries. The town of Tamborine Mountain is famous for its galleries, souvenir shops, and restaurants.
