Perth

Perth, the capital of Western Australia, is the largest and most enigmatic state, separated from other centers of civilization by thousands of square kilometers of harsh desert. Modern Perth is a peaceful, sun-drenched city nestled in the bend of the Swan River, home to nearly 2 million people.

Although the city is not lacking in modern buildings, there are still many old colonial-style houses that give it a special charm. Perth is often called the "Pearl of Australia." The old buildings, carefully preserved and restored, the pedestrian zone in the city center, and the beautiful river views make Perth very attractive to tourists. This, combined with a mild and even "Mediterranean" climate, magnificent beaches, restaurants and bars, nightclubs, and a developed tourist infrastructure, makes it an ideal destination.

Perth was founded in 1856. Later, gold was discovered nearby, and from 1885 the city began to grow rapidly. The laying of a telephone line to Adelaide and the construction of a railway connecting Perth with the eastern part of the continent (1912-1915) completed the process. And since iron ore, nickel, and bauxite were found near Perth, a major industrial center in Western Australia appeared south of the city in the 1950s.
