Redwoods Treewalk Rotorua Day Experience
The Redwoods Treewalk, inaugurated in 2016, is a half-kilometre long walkway, 12m above ground, that consists of a series of 21 suspension bridges traversing the gaps between 22 majestic 100-year old Redwood trees. Attached to each tree are living decks, offering visitors a unique, and birds-eye perspective of this world-renowned forest. The living decks were specifically designed for the Redwood’s unique ecosystem, ensuring that the viewing platforms would adapt to the Trees rapid growth without any harm. Treewalk signs tell the story of the forest, its cultural significance and its contribution to the regions biodiversity. Treewalkers can move at their own pace along the longest suspended bridge course of its kind anywhere in the world, appreciating the beauty of the forest from an entirely new perspective, free of harnesses or helmets. Care must obviously be taken not to harm the trees, so there are guidelines that must be followed & each walker must not weigh more than 120Kg.
